Ahmad, a Muslim, became a hero when he disarmed the terrorist during the Chanukkah attack in Bondi, saving countless lives. Still recovering from his wounds, he appeared at the gala with a cast on his arm. Upon arriving in New York from Australia, Rabbi Ulman and Ahmad made their first stop at the Ohel.
At the gala, Ahmad embraced Rabbi Ulman, who tragically lost his son-in-law Rabbi Eli Schlanger HYD in the attack. Rabbi Ulman affirmed that the darkness of hatred will never prevail, while Ahmad shared that he felt guided by G‑d to act and save lives.
Bill Ackman, visibly moved, spoke of Ahmad’s bravery and selflessness. The evening left attendees inspired and emotional, highlighting courage, faith, and the enduring light of Chabad in the face of tragedy.
