The Light of Chanukah Shines Bright in Ethiopia

In the middle of Addis Ababa’s Bole International Airport – which serves as a major transit hub station and one of Africa’s busiest airports. A public Menorah and mitzva stand were set up at the airport by the Rebbe’s Shluchim to Ethiopia, Rabbi Eliyahu Habib, to ensure that Jewish travelers have a Chanukah experience while traveling through the airport during the holiday.
“It is exciting to see Jews from all over the world, who thought they had already missed the lighting the Menorah and were shocked that there was able to do it at the terminal.” Rabbi Habib said.
In cooperation with the local Bnei Noach community, they placed a large public Menorah in the center of Addis Ababa, and in honor of the eighth night of Chanukah, hundreds joined the public Menorah lighting, including government officials, and Ambassadors from all over the world. “It was a massive Kiddush Hashem, that you dont see here every day.”
In addition, the Shluchim visited the Israeli embassy, bringing them the light of Chanukah to the employees and the tourists at the embassy, with a dinner and Menorah lighting.
