Chabad of Uganda, headed by Rabbi Moshe and Yocheved Raskin, hosted Uganda’s historic Siyum Sefer Torah – the first in the African country’s history.
The Torah is dedicated in honor of the Rebbe and Rebbetzin Chaya Mushka, donated by Mr. Genady Bogolubov and Nathan Zlatrevsky, both leaders and patrons of the Jewish Community on Dnipro, Ukraine.
The event was a Kiddush Hashem like no other. Community members said it was the first time they had such a visible Jewish experience. Each person in the audience was given the opportunity to write in the new Sefer Torah.
After the Hagbah, the Tahalucha began, in which everyone danced. After the march approached the Shul, where the Hakafos was held and the Torah scroll was placed in the Aron Kodesh.
