A Year After Campaign: Tzfas Yeshivah Purchases Historic Carmel Hotel

A major expansion is underway at Yeshivas Chasidei Chabad Lubavitch Tzfas, following the successful fundraising campaign launched a year ago. The yeshivah has purchased the historic four-story Carmel Hotel, located directly adjacent to the campus, adding around 70 dormitory beds and new classrooms • Full Story, Photos

A major development for the Chabad yeshivah world and Anash in Eretz Yisroel and around the world: the administration of Yeshivas Chasidei Chabad Lubavitch Tzfas has signed to purchase the historic “Carmel Hotel,” strategically located next to the yeshivah campus.

The deal, valued at approximately 10 million NIS, was made possible through the tremendous support of the yeshivah’s alumni and friends and marks a significant milestone in the continued expansion of the yeshivah. The property is directly adjacent to the existing buildings, between the Zal and dormitory, along the stairs connecting HaAri Street and Yerushalayim Street.

The purchase carries special significance, as the building served as a dormitory for the yeshivah during its early years, beginning in Iyar 5737 (1977).

The four-story building, spanning approximately 800 square meters, will be transferred to the yeshivah ahead of Pesach 5787. Following renovations and the necessary adaptations, it will provide approximately 70 additional dormitory beds, along with spacious classrooms and additional facilities for the hundreds of Temimim.

The expansion will enable the yeshivah to significantly increase its enrollment beginning with the 5788 school year, providing an answer to the growing demand from Bochurim seeking to learn in the largest Chabad yeshivah in the world.

Rosh Yeshivah Rabbi Meir Wilschanski expressed his satisfaction following the completion of the deal:

“A year ago, we promised to continue the Shlichus of my father, Rosh Yeshivah Rabbi Yosef Yitzchok Wilschanski, and to do everything possible to enable us to accommodate more and more Temimim in the yeshivah. Baruch Hashem, today we are privileged to take another major step in that direction.”

Yeshivah directors Rabbi Zev Friedman and Rabbi Shneur Zalman Lafkivker, who led the purchase process, thanked the partners, thousands of alumni, supporters and friends of the yeshivah.

“Every dollar donated is invested directly in developing the buildings and improving the welfare of the Bochurim. This purchase, which came to fruition with tremendous Siyata Dishmaya, is a giant step that will give the yeshivah significant momentum. With Hashem’s help, there is much more to come.”
