Chabad singer Yehoshua Limony, who was niskarev to Yiddishkeit by Tel Aviv Shliach Rabbi Yossi Gerlitsky released a new single “Don’t give up”, as a tribute to the Shluchim who was niskarev him decades ago.
The story behind the song he related, “This is a song, written over ten years ago, a personal song of thanks, from the bottom of my heart, to the Chabad Shluchim, thanks to whom I was privileged have a more meaningful life and to build a my Chabad house in and also to be a Shliach myself. The song was written especially for the Yud-Tes Kislev farbrengen in Tel Aviv and it was originally called “The Shliach’s Song”.
“Unfortunately, due to my resume in Israeli music, I never released the song officially, out of fear that this would categorize me as an artist, a musician belonging to the Chareidi sector, and thus block my access to the general audience. In the last two years, while performing in dozens of Chabad houses throughout the country, I began to incorporate the song into the show. I was amazed to see teary eyes and total silence in the audience while I was playing it. More than that, I was moved by the response of the Shluchim themselves to how the song simply speaks their reality.”
