From the Rebbe’s Pen: “Can This Be Called A Hanhala?!”

Chabadinfo in collaboration with Beis Moshiach Magazine presents: From the Rebbe’s Pen, a series featuring a weekly letter or ma’aneh (response) from the Rebbe MH”M The Rebbe’s reply to a board of a certain yeshiva which was not living up to its task of properly running the yeshiva • Full Article

The Rebbe’s reply to a board of a certain yeshiva which was not living up to its task of properly running the yeshiva:

    Translation:

I am not determining to whom (specifically) the following is relevant — but some (and not all) of the fundamentals that are missing as regards the Yeshiva operations are the following:

There is no koch (=passion ) (and perhaps even less than that), not in the studies (Nigleh or Chassidus) nor in the matter of tefilla etc.

Also, there’s no emotional connection to the yeshiva and affection towards it (which also affects the aforementioned).

Also, among the students, there’s an assumption (probably based on the state of affairs prevalent until now) that the yeshiva will not concern itself with their future establishment, etc., and not even with any kind of assistance in any future arrangements they themselves will find. Consequently, one understands how this impacts their time in the yeshiva…

Another important and significant point: how is it that it has been like this for so many years, and no one sees it and pays attention to it, and none of this is being fixed?

    — Can those who are responsible for this be worthy of the title “menahel” (=administrator), “hanhala” (=administration), “vaad ruchni” (=spiritual board), or the like?
