While ballistic missiles from Iran whistled overhead, the Pidyan Haben for Menachem Mendel, the eldest son of Rabbi Eliyahu Shlomo Ezagui, was performed in Nachlat Har Chabad, in an underground bomb shelter.
“It is precisely in these moments that the mitzvah of Pidyan Haben – which symbolizes the ‘firstborn sons of Yisroel’ – takes on double power: deep underground, the divine Mitzvah is being fulfilled, and thanks to this, we will all be worthy of redemption,” said Rabbi Ezagui. “May it be that through the holy Mitzvah of Pidyan Haben, Hashem will redeem his children, Am Yisroel, from Galus to true and complete Geulah immediately.”
