In an inspiring moment of Jewish pride and spiritual empowerment, Rabbi Yitzchok Minkowicz, Shliach of the Lubavitcher Rebbe and director of Chabad Lubavitch of Southwest Florida, was seen helping fellow Jewish passengers don Tefillin aboard a full JetBlue morning flight en route to New York.

As the Rebbe taught, the simple act of putting on Tefillin is far more than a personal mitzvah — it’s a declaration of Jewish identity that radiates strength and holiness, impacting not just the individual, but the entire world. In turbulent times, when antisemitism is on the rise globally, we respond not with fear, but with faith, light, and mitzvos.

By encouraging Jews to publicly embrace their heritage, we fulfill the verse:

“וראו כל עמי הארץ כי שם ה’ נקרא עליך ויראו ממך”

“And all the nations of the earth shall see that the name of G-d is called upon you, and they shall fear you.” (Devarim 28:10)

Our sages explain: “אלו תפילין שבראש” – “These are the Tefillin worn on the head.” (Berachos 6a)

In the words of the Rebbe, when a Jew proudly puts on Tefillin, it sends a message of divine strength and moral clarity that commands respect from the world — ensuring peace through spiritual power, not physical conflict.

A mitzvah in midair — a powerful reminder that no matter where we are, we carry our mission with pride.
