Preparations for the International Kinus Hashluchim are in the final stages with just the last few touch-ups being refined and confirmed. In the coming days, the comprehensive Kinus program will be unveiled, including the panels, seminars, lectures, discussions, and plenary sessions. Registration for the Kinus officially opens on Wednesday evening, and the Kinus closes Sunday evening with a festive closing session.
The Rebbe’s participation in the Shluchim’s expenses are widely known, often contributing large sums, in some years covering the entire cost of the Shluchim’s airfare.
In recent years, the Vaad Hakinus of Merkos L’Inyonei Chinuch initiated the custom of awarding large financial grants to Shluchim, both to assist with covering their airfare, and as a financial award toward their Shlichus year-round. Combined, these awards would total in the hundreds of thousands of dollars.
Chasidic philanthropist R’ Shalom Ber Drizin generously sponsors the large sums, and last year contributed an astronomical $300,000 for this purpose.
However, ChabadInfo has learned that this year, in the wake of an increase in the number of Shluchim – over 1,000 have already registered – R Drizin has pledged to add $100,000, bringing the total to $400,000 so that 400 Shluchim will win $1,000 each in the form of financial grants.
The grants are distributed by Merkos L’Inyonei Chinuch, through its Chairman Rabbi Shalom Mendel Simpson.
