The New York City Emergency Management Department today issued a travel advisory for Sunday, February 13. According to the latest forecast, light snow is expected to develop early Sunday morning at around 4 a.m. and continue through the afternoon. A total of 2 inches to 3 inches of snow is expected with locally higher amounts possible.

“Although we experienced unseasonably warmer temperatures over the past few days, winter weather will make its return on Sunday,” said NYC Emergency Management Acting Commissioner Christina Farrell. “We encourage all New Yorkers to use mass transit, allow for extra travel time, and exercise caution.”

The City’s Sanitation Department is pre-deploying over 700 salt spreaders to pretreat roadways ahead of the first snowflake and is prepared to dispatch plows in every sector if more than 2 inches of snow accumulates.
