“A message from the Beis Din of Crown Heights. I’m sitting here with Rabbi Osdoba ahead of Pesach with a few important notices.
“The mechiras Chometz is happening early Friday morning — way, way before sof zman achillas Chometz, which doesn’t exist this year (on Friday). So do your Mechiras Chometz earlier this year — the latest Thursday night. Don’t wait until Friday morning. Any Chometz after the sof zman biur, all the Chometz, must be locked away. You should put it aside.
“The Chometz you want to eat over Shabbos, keep it in a separate place. That Chometz cannot be included in the sale. If there’s any leftover Chometz that you have on Shabbos, you should make sure to get rid of it, flush it down the toilet, and ideally eat it with a napkin or tissue —something you can flush down the toilet. If you have a bag or a dish that has hummus (and other Chometz), you could shake out the Chometz crumbs into the toilet. The bag, which has no Chometz crumbs in it, or the dish you can lock up in Chometz, if there are no Chometz.
“A Kosher un Frielichen Pesach, and we should be zoche to eat the Karban Pesach.”
