A brazen bike theft occurred Wednesday afternoon in Crown Heights.
The incident took place on July 9, 2025, at approximately 5:00 PM, near the intersection of Utica Avenue and President Street. According to Shmira, the suspect approached the bike in broad daylight and made off with it within moments.
Surveillance footage released by Shmira shows the individual calmly walking up to the bike, appearing to check the area briefly, and then quickly leaving with it. The theft occurred despite the steady flow of pedestrian and vehicle traffic in the area at the time.
Shmira is actively investigating the incident and urges anyone who recognizes the suspect or has relevant information to come forward.
“This kind of theft, especially in such a public space during daytime hours, is alarming,” said a Shmira representative. “We’re asking the public to stay alert and help us identify the individual involved.”
