During Chief Rabbi Dovid Lau‘s visit to the United States, he participated in a Yom Iyun for shluchim on the subject of Siddur Chuppa v’Kiddushin. It was hosted by Machon Lemaan Yilmedu in their Crown Heights learning center.

The Yom Iyun was part of a course on Chuppa v’Kiddushin for shluchim, after nine months of study in the Shulchan Aruch with a weekly shiur given by Rabbi Mordechai Farkash, author of Seder Chuppa v’Kiddushin who began the Yom Iyun with a practical shiur on the laws of writing a kesuba.

Then, the participants heard two practical shiurim given by Rabbi Pinchas Altheus of Cholon, who is known as an expert on Chuppa v’Kiddushin. He explained, step by step, how to write a kesuba and the laws of the chuppa, emphasizing Chuppa v’Kiddushin for mekuravim who are not religious.

Rabbi Lau, who delivered the keynote address, combined halachic emphases in arranging Chuppa v’Kiddushin, and guidance for how to properly present the demands of halacha in an appealing way, so that a bride and groom who are not religious will be happy to have a Chuppa v’Kiddushin according to halacha.

At the end of the course, the participants will be given a certificate signed by the distinguished rabbanim, members of the semicha committee of Lemaan Yilmedu, a certificate recognized by the Chief Rabbinate of Israel.

Registration for the next course on Chuppa v’Kiddushin has opened.
