Approximately three months after the start of the academic year at the Lemaan Yelmedu Institute, a series of examinations was held this week across the various study programs. These included programs for Shluchim and Rabbonim, as well as programs for Baalei Batim focusing on Halacha Lemaase.
The series of examinations was opened by Rabbi Rafael David Bannon of Montreal, who administered two separate exams: one for participants in the Dayanus program, and another for those studying in the Hilchos Taharah program.
Rabbi Yosef Yeshaya Braun, Mara D’Asra and member of the Crown Heights Badatz, conducted tests for students in the Semicha track in the class of Rabbi Yossi Barber and in the class of Rabbi Zalman Mergui at the Chabad House in Five Towns. In addition, he examined participants in the Hilchos Shabbos – Halacha Lemaaseh program, as well as those studying Orach Chaim – day-to-day Halacha.
Rabbi Braun presented daily situations to the talmidim and asked them to answer how to apply the halacha that they learned. The talmidim displayed expertise in the material and readily answered the many questions.
Rabbi Chaim Yisrael Wilhelm, the menahel at Lemaan Yilmedu, expressed satisfaction with the success of the exams and the revolution in the study of halacha, which his father, Rabbi Zushia Wilhelm a’h began, recognizing the need to establish an institution for high-level study of halacha.
