AMC Holds Annual Hachnosa L’cheder

All My Children students gathered with their families on the school rooftop to celebrate their first formal introduction to Torah learning.
Proud family members joined their children on Tuesday morning, Rosh Chodesh Sivan, for All My Children’s annual Hachnosa L’Cheider celebration, held at their Lefferts Avenue location. Mrs. Chedvi Baras, the school’s director, warmly welcomed everyone to the third annual Areinferinish celebration. The event was dedicated in memory of Rabbi Katzen, A”H, and the morning commenced with the children singing the 12 Pesukim, which Rabbi Katzen had composed the tunes to, some years ago.
Before beginning with the minhagim of a Hachnosa Lacheder, the children read the book ‘Shimi Receives the Torah’, which provided them with context of what an Arainfernish is, why they are celebrating it now, and how it’s compared to their very own Matan Torah. This book was created by AMC specifically, as an educational support for a meaningful Areinferinish.
Each child received a basket filled with all the Hachnosa Lacheder Minhagim and an instruction sheet as a visual guide to help them along as they performed each Minhag.
Guided by Rabbi Levi Goldstein, the children repeated the Aleph Beis from the Shaar Blaat of Tanya and the Aleph Beis sheet. They then licked the sweet honey off of the letters, thus enjoying the “sweetness” of Torah! They internalized the words of Torah, by eating the engraved Pesukim off of their honey cake and egg, just in time for Shavuos.
The celebration culminated by children enjoying a personalized All My Children Cake, made in honor of this celebratory day!
