Oholei Torah Mestivta, located on Troy Avenue in Crown Heights celebrated 120 years of the founding of Tomchei Tmimim in a most unique and meaningful manner.  A “Mivzta 120” began at the beginning of the year and continued until Yud Shvat, where the young bochurim learnt 120!!! chapters of tanya and ma’amorim ba’al peh from the Rebbe’s ma’amorim.

In a most organized fashion, most of the Mesivta bochurim participates in this campaign, and were tested by members of the hanhola on each and every chapter.

The magidei shiurim both of Nigleh and Chassidus, testified that at every given moment you can see bochurim learning ma’amorim on their own time or when they finished learning what they learnt in that seder.

45 Talmidim completed the entire goal of 120 paragraphs and were honored at a Siyum Ceremony that took place last week in the Beis Medrash. Rabbi Shlomo Zarchi, Mashpia of 770, the Central Lubavitch Yeshiva of Crown Heights came to test the bochurim, as well as encourage them to continue and strengthen their learning Ba’al Peh. Mr. Gary Apfel, one of the leading attorneys for Reb Sholom Mordechai Rubashkin, spoke to the talmidim and shared many of the interesting and uplifting stories and miracles that surrounded the case, which ultimately led to the release of Reb Sholom Mordechai.

In addition to hearing guest speakers, certificates were handed out to the 45 talmidim, and a group picture was taken. Each talmid also received a most generous substantial monetary gift for his efforts. Rabbi Zushe Wilhelm, Menahel of the Mesivta oversaw the Mivzta together with members of the hanhola.

After the official ceremony, Rabbi Zarchi sat and farbrenged with the mesivta. Rabbi Zarchi stressed the fact that when one being becomes saturated with Torah, they become a whole new being. How much more so, when one becomes filled with the Torah of our Rebbe!
