This week marks 27 years since the Rebbe delivered the famous Sicha addressing the treaty titled ‘START’ (Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty) between the USA and USSR to reduce and limit strategic offensive arms, in favor of the more peaceful needs of agriculture.
The Rebbe Melech Hamoshiach explained how this treaty is, in fact, a prelude to the messianic prophecy of Yeshayah that “They their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning-hooks; nation shall not lift up sword against nation, nor shall they learn war any more.” “Thus we see”, concluded the Rebbe, “the beginning of Moshiach’s effect on the nations”.
