Question: When listening to another making Kiddush, must the listener drink wine as well? Does it make a difference whether it is night Kiddush or day Kiddush?
Answer: It’s not a requirement, rather a “mitzvah min hamuvchar” – the optimum manner of fulfilling the mitzvah.
