Thirty Days Before Yud Shevat: Thirty Days to Reveal the Treasure Within
As the Yud Shevat approaches, Rabbi Yitzchok Minkowicz of Chabad Lubavitch of Southwest Florida has released two video Shiurim on the Rebbe’s Basi L’Gani Ma’amorim based on the one originally delivered by the Previous Rebbe in 5710 • Read More, Watch
Our sages teach that thirty days before a holiday, we begin preparing. Preparation is not only about what we do, but also about who we become. These days are meant to attune us to the inner message of the Yom Tov, so that when it arrives, we are ready to receive its light.
We are now thirty days before Yud Shevat, a date that carries the soul of our generation and the mission entrusted to us by the Rebbe.
In the years תשכ״ו (1966) and תשמ״ו (1986), the Rebbe taught Chapter 16 of the maamar Basi LeGani, originally delivered by the Previous Rebbe. These teachings reveal not only the purpose of our times, but the tools we have been given to fulfill it.
Both of these maamarim are being explored in a new Kabbalah class taught by Rabbi Yitzchok Minkowicz, Chabad Lubavitch of Southwest Florida.
G-d’s Hidden Treasure
The Rebbe teaches that when a king sends his child into a distant land, he gives him his most precious treasure resources so deep and powerful that they can overcome any obstacle.
So too, G-d has entrusted our generation with a hidden treasure: the deepest strength of the Jewish soul. This treasure enables us to confront spiritual darkness, inner struggle, and a world that often conceals G-dliness and not only endure it, but transform it.
The challenges of our time are not a sign of weakness. They are evidence of the immense Divine potential placed within us.
How Do We Access G-d’s Treasure?
Through Basi LeGani, the Rebbe shows us how this inner treasure is unlocked:
• By recognizing that our generation stands at the final stage of the mission
• By drawing upon the essence of the soul that is revealed specifically in times of challenge
• By using Torah and mitzvot to illuminate even the lowest places
• By understanding that revealing G-d in the physical world fulfills His ultimate desire
This is Kabbalah with direction. Depth with purpose. Mysticism that moves us to action.
A Personal Note
From Rabbi Yitzchok Minkowicz
As we approach Yud Shevat, I invite you to join me in learning these powerful teachings of the Rebbe. They are not only meant to be understood, but to be internalized and lived.
The Rebbe believed deeply in our generation. He taught that we already possess everything we need to succeed to overcome, to illuminate, and to reveal G-d in the world around us.
May our learning during these days uncover the hidden treasure within each of us, strengthen our connection to the Rebbe, and help us bring more light, clarity, and holiness into our lives and into the world.
With blessings for growth and inspiration,
Rabbi Yitzchok Minkowicz,
Chabad Lubavitch of Southwest Florida
