    We are deeply saddened to report on the passing of Rabbi Yosef Yitzchak Itkin, a legendary Chassid, who served as a Shliach and Mashpia in Pittsburgh, PA. He passed away on Monday evening, the 7th of Teves, 5784.

    He was 69.

    He was the son of Rabbi Meir Itkin, the venerable Chossid, who was moser nefesh for Yiddishkeit in the Soviet Union. R’ Meir later moved to Crown Heights with his family and was a fixture in 770 with his house just a few feet away.

    After his marriage, Rabbi Itkin moved to Pittsburgh, where he served as a Shliach and Mashpia in Pittsburgh, PA for many years.

    He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Nechama Itkin, and their children.

    The Levaya will be passing by Yeshiva Schools in Pittsburgh tonight, Monday night, at 11:45 pm, and will continue in New York on Tuesday. Further details will be added when available.

    He is survived by his wife Mrs. Nechoma Itkin (nee Junik) and their 11 children Mrs. Chana Mondshine – Smolensk, Russia; Mrs. Shaina Stolik – South Palm Beach, Florida; Mrs. Tzivi Kivman – Mansfield, Massachusetts; R’ Avraham Itkin – Kingston, NY; R’ Chaim Itkin – Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; Mrs. Chaya Posner – Toronto, Ontario; Mrs. Alte Raskin – Crown Heights; Mrs. Goldie Ohana – Binghamton, NY; Mrs. Rivky Raichik – Los Angeles, California; Leah Itkin and Menucha Itkin; grandchildren.

    He is also survived by his siblings Mrs. Feigie Rapaport – Mequon, WI; Mrs. Shana Tiechtel – Crown Heights; Rabbi Leibel Itkin – Scranton, PA; and Mrs. Chana Geisinsky – Great Neck, NY.

    He was predeceased by his brothers Rabbi Zalman Itkin of Hamilton, Canada, and Rabbi Mendel Itkin of Sydney, Australia.

    The levaya will pass by 770 Eastern Parkway on Tuesday 2:30 PM on its way for burial at the old Montefiore Cemetery in Queens.

    The family will be sitting Shiva at the Tiechtel home – 405 Crown St., Brooklyn, NY, 11225.
