We regret to inform you of the passing of Rabbi Tuvia Peles, a longtime Chabad activist in Eretz Yisroel and creator of the famous Dvar Malchus booklets. He passed on Tuesday, 16 Shevat.

    He was 73 years old.

Born in 5708, he was drafted by the Israeli Army. He was at one point also the head of the security for Israeli Prime Minister David Ben Gurion.

In 5730, at 22 years old, he traveled to New York to spend the year learning by the Rebbe MH”M together with that year’s kvutzah.

At the Shabbos farbrengen before he traveled back to Eretz Yisroel in the summer, while Israel was fighting the ‘War of Attrition’, the Rebbe instructed him to travel to all the fronts, from the Suez Canal to the Golan Heights, to convey blessings for success in the Rebbe’s name.

R’ Tuvia became famous for his activism in the Rebbe’s mivtzoim following his marriage, receiving many personal instructions from the Rebbe MH”M regarding his communal work, as well as his personal life.

In 5751, as part of his efforts to spread Chassidus, R’ Tuvia began printing the Rebbe’s weekly sichos under the name “Dvar Malchus”. The publication quickly gained prominence. Tens of thousands of copies were being printed weekly.

In Iyar of that year, in response to the Rebbe’s call to learn Inyonei Geulah U’Moshiach, Rabbi Peles published a special edition of “Dvar Malchus”, which contained sichos explaining the last two chapters of Rambam, which detail the halachos of Moshiach.

On 15 Iyar, the Rebbe requested that the booklet be reprinted in New York, and personally distributed copies to tens of thousands of chassidim. That distribution was the first time chassidim sang Yechi in front of the Rebbe MH”M.

After Gimmel Tammuz, R’ Tuvia continued printing his weekly publications, with sichosma’amarim and letters from the Rebbe MH”M and the previous rebbeim. As time passed, he added the daily study regimins of chitas and Rambam to the booklet, making it a valuable resource for those who make those studies a part of their daily schedule.

To date, 70,000 copies are printed weekly.

He is survived by his wife Mrs. Rivah Peles and their children Shlomo Peles – Kfar Chabad; Esther Faktor – Kfar Chabad; Shmuel Peles – Crown Heights; Yosef Peles – Kfar Chabad; Leizer PelesChana Edelkopf – Podgorica, Montenegro; Moishy Peles – Ashkelon; Devorah Zigman – Yerushalayim; Levi Peles – Ashkelon; Mendy Peles – Modi’in; Chaya Marelus – Switzerland; Yisrolik Peles – Nahariya.

The levaya will take place on Monday in Kfar Chabad at 11:30 AM local time, continuing on to Shamgar funeral home at 2:00 PM.
