We regret to inform you of the passing of Rabbi Nochem Avrohom Jakobovics, an elder member of Antwerp, Belgium’s Anash community.
He was 96 years old.
Rabbi Jakobovics was born in Hungary on 9 Tammuz 5686 to his parents R’ Shimon Yaakov and Breindel Oher.
During the Second World War, he joined a group of young Jewish men who lived and learned with the help of Rabbi Schneur Zalman Schneerson, a cousin of the Rebbe MH”M.
It was there, during those dark days, that he was exposed to the teachings and light of Chassidus and Chabad and learned diligently.
He was in Paris, France, when the Rebbe visited in 5707 to pick up his mother, Rebbetzin Chana. There he merited to meet and interact with the Rebbe on a number of occasions.
He lived in Answerp, where he tought Chassidus to many.
He is survived by his wife Mrs. Lana Jakobovics, their children Rabbi Yona Elimelech Jakobovics – Kiryat Gat, Israel; Mrs. Bracha Mirel Zilberstom – Jerusalem, Israel; Rabbi Shimon Yaakov Jakobovics – Brooklyn, NY; grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
