    We are deeply saddened to report on the passing of Mrs. Mala Wichin, a widely respected and admired educator has passed away at the age of 78.

    Mrs. Wichnin was born in Poland in 1945, just after the end of World War II, to her parents Yoel and Zelda Zebrowitz o.b.m.

    Her parents were eventually able to bring the family to America where they invested extreme Mesiras Nefesh to raise their children in a frum home and provide them with a solid Torah Jewish education.

    From the time she was a child, Mrs. Wichnin was always a diligent and exemplary student, acquiring a vast knowledge of Torah and all related subjects.

    She used her knowledge and extremely caring character to enter the world of Chinuch in 1960. She served as a teacher in a variety of capacities for ~over~ sixty years and inspired thousands of students from all walks of life.

    Mrs. Wichnin first taught in Beis Yaakov of Boro Park and then in Beis Rivkah and many other schools.

    On the 14th of Kislev, 5723 (1962) she married the legendary Rosh Yeshiva Rabbi Dovid Wichnin o.b.m. After living in NY for ten years they moved to Boston where they lived for 8 Years. Rabbi Wichin was hired in 5738 to serve as the lead Rosh Yeshiva in Tiferes Bachurim in Morristown and the Wichnin’s moved to Monsey, New York, where Mrs. Wichnin taught in the Beis Yaakov of Monsey for 40 years.

    A few weeks ago, Mrs. Wichnin moved to Yerushalayim to live near her son Reb Yisroel Noach שי’ . She passed away this morning, the 17th of Cheshvan, 5784,  at the age of 78.

    She was a unique model of modesty and lived an ascetic life, which was an extreme inspiration to all that knew her. (In respect of that modesty, pictures do not accompany this notice.)

    She is survived by her children Faigy Wichnin (New York), Rabbi Yisroel Noach (Yerushalayim) and Rabbi Nachman Dov (Crown Heights).

    She is also survived by her sister Mrs. Shoshana Minkowicz (Crown Heights)

    The funeral will be held on Thursday, 18th of Cheshvan at 11 am in the Kehilas Yerusholayim funeral home in Yerushalayim and burial will follow at Har Hamenuchos.

    Her children will be sitting Shiva in Jerusalem starting Thursday after the Levaya.

    Rabbi Nachman Dov Wichnin is flying back from Israel to New York where he will be sitting shiva for his Mother of Blessed memory.
