With great sadness we regret to inform you of the passing of R’ Avraham Aaron Rubashkin, OB”M, a well-known Baal Tzedaka, and patriarch of a large Lubavitch family. He passed away on Thursday night, Tes Nissan. He was 92-years-old.
He has reportedly passed away after contracting the Coronavirus.
Reb Aaron was born in the small Russian town of Nevel, well-known for its Lubavitch community. When he fled Nevel from the Germans, he made it to Samarkand. After World War II, the Rubashkin family eventually made it to the United States in 1953.
He survived the Communist oppression and moved to America and built a large kosher meat plant, which started off as a small butcher shop in New York.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Rivka Rubashkin, his children; Mrs. Chana Zelda Minkowicz – Crown Heights; Mrs. Chayala Gourarie – Postville, IA; Mrs. Gutol Goldman – Miami Beach, FL; R’ Heshy Rubashkin – Postville, IA; R’ Moshe Rubashkin – Crown Heights; Mrs. Rochel Leah Rosenfeld – Tzfas, ER”Y; Mrs. Sara Balkany – Boro Park, NY; R’ Sholom Mordechai Rubashkin – Monsey, NY; R’ Yossi Rubashkin – Crown Heights; as well as grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
