Three children from a Jewish family at risk of assimilation were welcomed into the covenant of Avraham Avinu at a Bris Milah ceremony held at Chabad if Migdal HaEmek, under the direction of the Rebbe’s Shliach, Rabbi Avraham Wilhelm.
The children’s mother had previously been helped by the organization Ohr LaAchim to leave a relationship with an Arab man. Following her rescue, the organization continued assisting the family in reconnecting with their Jewish roots, culminating in the Bris Milah of her three children.
The ceremony was attended by Rabbi Yeshayahu Herzl and Rabbi Yaakov Yosef Cohen, a Rav and Moreh Tzedek in Bnei Brak who serves as one of the organization’s Rabbonim. Both served as Sandakim. The Brisos were performed by expert Mohel Rabbi Yedidya Kravitz, who regularly assists the organization.
Ohr LaAchim is continuing to accompany the family through the process of formally returning to Jewish life with the Rabbanut. Once that process is complete, the organization plans to celebrate the children’s Bar Mitzvah at the Kosel.
Rabbi Binyamin Volkan of Ohr LaAchim said: “This is an especially moving moment. Behind every story like this stands an entire family, and the struggle over Jewish identity is a struggle for the children’s future and their connection to the Jewish people. We thank everyone who helped make this day possible, and will continue working to save Jews from assimilation and reconnect them with their roots.”
