Knesset Member Avi Maoz, chairman of the Noam party, has spoken out following a video posted by Tel Aviv Deputy Mayor Reuven Ladianski, in which Ladianski opposed a request by the Rebbe’s Shluchim for an exceptional-use permit to establish a Chabad Shul in Ramat Aviv Gimmel. Maoz asked: “Who would have believed that in Eretz Yisrael, one would have to fight for the right to operate a Shul?”
In a statement, Maoz claimed that Ladianski is not concerned about illegal migrants, illegal residents, gambling clubs and other illegal establishments in southern Tel Aviv, but rather about “a Chabad Shul in Ramat Aviv.”
“Who would have believed that in the Jewish state, one would have to fight for the right to operate a Shul?” Maoz wrote.
Maoz concluded by promising: “In the next government after the elections, Noam, under my leadership, will put an end to the persecution and ensure that Jews in Tel Aviv, too, feel free to be Jewish.”
