It might be two siblings fighting in the back seat. A couple that can’t stop arguing. A community rocked by controversy. To an outsider, whatever they’re fighting over can seem ridiculous. You’re going to break up a family over this? A community over that?

But when we’re caught up in conflict, it doesn’t feel silly at all. We keep looking for someone to blame: He started it. She said this. He did that. The argument keeps escalating and escalating, until things get completely out of hand.

How do we break out of this cycle? And how did we get into it to start with?

To understand conflict at its source, we need to go back to the beginning. And I mean the very beginning.

How did conflict enter the world? Is it my fault? Is it yours? How did the world get broken in the first place – and who is responsible for fixing it?

These are the questions at the heart of the newly released book, An End to Conflict by Chaya Shuchat.

When we explore these questions through the teachings of Chassidus, a new perspective emerges. We realize that the roots of conflict were there long before humans came onto the scene. When we stop blaming each other, we can start working together to fix it.

From Inner Conflict to Global Peace

The book is organized around a teaching of the Rebbe from Shabbos Parshas Vayakhel, 5752:

“A Jew’s service begins with gathering together the different aspects of his own being. Afterwards, he gathers together with the entire Jewish people, and then, gathers together every element of the world and shows how their entire existence is intended to carry out G-d’s will.”

An End to Conflict follows that journey, exploring both the spiritual roots of conflict and the struggles we encounter in everyday life.

Through the lens of Chassidus, it examines how we become trapped in cycles of blame, resentment, and division, and offers practical pathways toward greater peace within ourselves, with one another, and in the world around us.

    What Readers Are Saying

    Chana Weisberg, editor of thejewishwoman.org:

“In a world full of conflict and fragmentation, Chaya teaches powerful truths to help us understand our cosmic journey. A profound and transformative read!”

Shluchos around the world are already raving about the book’s potential to elucidate delicate and nuanced concepts.

Leah Namdar, veteran shluchah in Gothenburg, Sweden:

“You will never look at conflict the same way again! Chaya writes with insight and clarity, inspiring the thoughtful reader towards cultivating true humility and a deeper relationship with Hashem and other people.”
