Eretz Yisroel, Yiddishkeit and the Shofar: Weber and Menashe Tour Florida
Against the backdrop of the ongoing challenges facing Israel, media personalities Shneur Weber and Oded Menashe held a series of lectures and community events for Jewish communities across Florida, addressing the situation in Israel, Jewish identity and the connection between Jews around the world and Eretz Yisroel • Full Report
Shneur Weber is a journalist, publicist and podcast host who has held senior editorial positions in Israel’s Chareidi media and is known for his commentary on Israeli society and Jewish affairs. Oded Menashe is a veteran Israeli television host, actor and entertainer, best known for his many years as a host on Israel’s Children’s Channel. In recent years, Menashe has also become known for his Jewish outreach and public speaking.
The two spoke to hundreds of Israeli-Americans, young and old, about the challenges facing Jewish communities in the United States and the importance of maintaining a strong Jewish identity far from Eretz Yisroel.
A central theme was the role of Israelis living abroad as ambassadors for Eretz Yisroel and Yiddishkeit in their communities. Weber and Menashe also discussed combating antisemitism and the importance of explaining Israel’s reality to those around them, combining personal stories, humor and emotion.
The events concluded with Shneur Weber blowing the shofar, explaining its significance and its message of awakening the Jewish people to teshuvah and strengthening their connection to Yiddishkeit. Participants described the evenings as inspiring and a “warm hug from home.”
