Concern is growing over the disappearance of Kasriel Nachman Keinan, a 24-year-old Chabad bochur who has been missing for more than a week after being last seen in Tiveria.
Kasriel was last seen at approximately 6:00 p.m. on Monday, August 10, near Gai Beach in Tveria. He was believed to be traveling toward Tzfas, where he planned to visit his rabbi. There has been no confirmed information about his whereabouts since.
The search has involved volunteers from Yedidim, ZAKA, YAKAL and other organizations, alongside police, family members and local volunteers. Teams have been searching throughout the Tveria area and other locations across northern Eretz Yisroel.
In an emotional interview Monday with Ami Maimon on Kol Barama Radio, Kasriel’s father said police had raised a new and deeply concerning possibility.
According to his father, police told him they are investigating whether the disappearance could be connected to a nationalist incident.
“I just came out of the police station,” his father said. “I was told that they are now treating it as though there may be a nationalist motive.”
The statement comes as the family continues to wait for answers and hopes for his safe return.
His father recalled seeing him for the last time on Sunday evening.
“I parted from him on Sunday evening,” he said. “He came to accompany me to Davening. He told me, ‘Abba, I’m going for a bit to a friend, and I’ll come back with you for Mincha,’ and since then I haven’t seen him.”
Kasriel later traveled north and was believed to be heading toward Tzfas. His last confirmed sighting was in Tiveria.
As the search continues, stories about Kasriel’s dedication to helping others have also emerged. His father said people from around the world have been reaching out with stories of acts of Chesed his son had quietly carried out, many of which the family had never known about.
During his time in 770, Kasriel was involved with Kupas Bachurim, helping bochurim who needed food, clothing and other basic necessities. His father described him as someone who would willingly give up his own food and possessions to help others, including orphans and Bochurim facing difficult circumstances.
Those stories have deeply affected the people now searching for him.
“Even the Bochurim who are searching for him today, when they hear these things, tears come down,” his father said. “They simply say, ‘How can it be that such an angel suddenly disappeared?’”
Kasriel completed Kevutza in 770, and later volunteered at several Chabad Houses, including in the Philippines and France.
The family also briefly hoped that an attempted login to Kasriel’s email account might provide a breakthrough. The login triggered a two-step verification request, raising concern that someone may have accessed the account. Authorities later determined that the incident appeared to be unrelated to his disappearance and was attributed to an attempted hacking incident.
The search continues, with no confirmed breakthrough.
Kasriel is approximately 5 feet 8 inches tall, with black hair, a beard and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a white shirt, black suit and hat. He was carrying a black backpack and a dark brown Tefillin bag.
The public is asked to continue davening for Kasriel Nachman ben Leah.
