A 17-year-old girl sustained serious injuries, while a 15-year-old girl was lightly injured. One additional individual was treated for shock. The victims were evacuated to Shaare Zedek Medical Center in Jerusalem for further treatment.
The terrorist, identified as a resident of Hebron, was neutralized by a soldier from the Nachshon Battalion (90) of the Kfir Brigade shortly after carrying out the attack.
MDA paramedic Moshe Benita and senior MDA EMT Chaim Sharabi described the scene: “When we arrived at the attack site, we saw significant commotion and a vehicle near a bus stop. Close to the vehicle was a 17-year-old girl who was fully conscious and suffering from severe injuries to her lower limbs. We provided emergency medical treatment at the scene, including controlling heavy bleeding, and evacuated her in intensive care condition to the hospital. Additional MDA teams treated a 15-year-old girl who sustained facial injuries and was listed in light condition.”
Gush Etzion Regional Council Head Yaron Rosenthal arrived at the scene and said: “A serious terror attack took place here at the Gush Etzion Junction. A terrorist attempted to run over a group of teenage boys and girls. The terrorist was eliminated very quickly by security forces. Our presence here at Gush Etzion began nearly 100 years ago. We have faced many challenges, and today is another difficult day. With Hashem’s help, we will continue to strengthen our presence here in the hills of Gush Etzion.”
The attack comes less than a year after a combined ramming and stabbing attack at the same junction in November, when Aharon Cohen, 71, a longtime resident of Kiryat Arba, father of six and grandfather, was murdered. HY”D.
That attack was carried out by two Arab terrorists from Hebron and the nearby town of Beit Ummar. Armed with knives, they first attempted to ram civilians waiting at a hitchhiking station before exiting their vehicle and launching a stabbing attack.
