An Israeli civilian was seriously wounded Thursday afternoon in a terrorist stabbing attack at Derech Avraham Farm near Alon Moreh in Samaria, after terrorists assaulted him while he was helping extinguish a fire believed to have been deliberately set nearby. The two terrorists were shot and eliminated at the scene by an armed Israeli civilian, preventing what could have become an even deadlier attack.

The victim was identified as Itamar Cohen, 51, one of the pioneers of the agricultural farm movement in Judea and Samaria. Magen David Adom medics treated him at the scene before he was airlifted to the hospital in serious condition after suffering stab wounds to his upper body.

Later in the day, his wife said he remained conscious and stable, though in significant pain, and asked the public to daven not only for his recovery but also for unity among the Jewish people.

According to the IDF, the attack began as Israeli civilians worked to contain a blaze that had erupted near the farm. During the firefighting efforts, two Arab terrorists launched a knife attack on Cohen. An armed Israeli civilian immediately opened fire, killing both terrorists before they could strike additional victims. Security forces quickly arrived, secured the area, and imposed a closure on the nearby Arab village of Beit Furik while investigators began examining both the terrorist attack and the origin of the fire.

Police said investigators are examining whether the fire was intentionally set as part of the attack. Fire investigators from the Judea and Samaria District are working alongside police to determine exactly how the blaze started and whether it was used to lure Israelis into an ambush.

An MDA emergency medic described the dramatic scene, saying civilians suddenly shouted that a man had been stabbed while firefighters and volunteers were securing the area. Medics rushed to Cohen, provided lifesaving treatment to stop severe bleeding, and evacuated him together with an IDF medical team.

Samaria Regional Council head Yossi Dagan arrived at the scene and issued a forceful response, declaring, “We expect the government to crush the terrorists and those who incite them. We will defeat terrorism.”

Defense Minister Israel Katz also spoke with Cohen and his family, wishing him a speedy recovery while reaffirming Israel’s commitment to defeating terrorism and strengthening Jewish communities throughout Judea and Samaria.
