According to prosecutors, the suspect intentionally rammed his vehicle multiple times into the entrance of 770 on the night of Yud Shevat, while hundreds of Anash, guests, and bochurim were in and around Beis Chayeinu. In a tremendous miracle, no one was physically injured despite the large crowds present at the time.
Investigators said the attacker first exited his vehicle and moved security barriers out of the way before accelerating directly into the rear entrance several times, causing major damage to the doors and surrounding area. He was arrested shortly afterward by responding officers.
The attack sent shockwaves throughout Crown Heights and Chabad communities around the world, as the incident targeted the Rebbe’s Shul and the central headquarters of Chabad-Lubavitch. Many recalled the confusion in the moments following the attack, while also expressing gratitude for the open miracles that prevented a far more serious tragedy.
