It was a joyous occasion yesterday as Rabbi Moshe Reuven Azman, Chief Rabbi of Ukraine, inaugurated a new Chabad House in the city of Boryspil, known to many as the home of Kiev’s International Airport.

Dozens of synagogues functioned in Boryspil before the Russian Revolution in 1917, but were closed by the Bolsheviks during their early anti-religious campaigns.

Now, after 100 years, the Jews of the city of Boryspil, as well as guests arriving at the Boryspil airport, will find here a place for prayer, study and rest. The Chabad House is also equipped with a state of the art mikvah.

The director of the rabbinical center of Europe, Rabbi Arie Goldberg, together with the new Shliach of Boryspil Michel Ilchenki and venerated member of the Jewish community of Boryspil, Haim Videlgauz, nailed the Mezuzah to the doors of the new Chabad House, effectively kicking off a new Jewish revolution in the town.
