With great sadness, we regret to inform you of the passing of Rabbi Herschel Feigelstock, OB”M, a Shliach and one of the original principals of Tomchei Temimim in Montreal. He passed away on Wednesday, Tes Kislev. He was 98-years-old.

Rabbi Feigelstock was born and grew up in Vienna, Austria, before the war as part of the general Frum community.

When the war began, his family escaped to Budapest, Hungary, and from there, his father sent him and his brother to England where they learned in a Yeshiva.

In 1940, he was arrested and placed in an internment camp, due to him being a foreign national and therefore considered an enemy during the war. At a later point, he was transferred to Canada and eventually released.

Once he arrived in Canada, he was taken in by the nine Shluchim who were sent to Montreal by the Frierdiker Rebbe and joined their newly founded Yeshiva.

Following that, he married his wife, Mrs. Sara Esther Feigelstock (nee Winter), OB”M, where they settled in Montreal and served as Shluchim in the city, with Rabbi Feigelstock assuming the role of principal in the Yeshiva for over 40 years.

He is survived his children: Rabbi Yossi Feigelstock, Buenos Aires, Argentina; Shternie Greisman, Crown Heights; Rivky Teitelbaum, Miami, FL; Rabbi Avrohom Feigelstock, Vancouver, Canada; Chaya Medalie, Johannesburg, South Africa; Shneur Zalman Feigelstock; Montreal, Canada; Sholom Ber Feigelstock, Los Angeles, CA; Devorah Leah Davidson, Pittsburgh, PA; and Alter Yehoshua Feigelstock, Los Angeles, CA, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is also survived by his brother Rabbi Yitzchak Feigelstock of Long Beach.

He is predeceased by his wife, Mrs. Sara Feigelstock, and son Menachem Mendel Feigelstock.

    Baruch Dayan Ha’emes.
