The rainstorm that came upon the Lag B’omer parade in Kensington did not stop the over One Thousand (!) participants that were all in high spirits and very much enjoyed the magnificent program.

The program that took place on the street – on Ave F., And Ocean Parkway, was opened by the talented emcee Rabbi Levi Goldstein with a few words about Lag B’omer. The 12 Psukim were said by children from local schools. Live music was played throughout by Dudi Axelrod, with clowns adding to the joyous atmosphere.

The highlight: John Pizzi – a world renowned ventriloquist and magician – had the crowd amazed with their eyes glued to the stage.

Then came the downpour, and “downpour” is an understatement, it was a 15 minute flood. While many people ran to shelter, Rabbi Mendel Levin, the son of Rabbi Moshe Chaim and Doba Levin, got up to the podium and announced that Lag Baomer is a day related with rain. The Rashbi is known for his uniqueness to be able to bring rain down through studying Torah, and rain is a blessing – gishmei bracha.

The rain stopped shortly afterwards. The crowd came back from their shelters, and the parade began!

Led by the marching band, the adults and children marched around the central blocks, continuing down Ocean Parkway to show their Jewish pride to all.

Every boy and girl that came to the parade got a free Fidget Spiner. Raffles where made on a Set of Seforim, a smart watch, and other great prizes.

Chabad Lubavitch of Kensington would like to thank the bochurim of Yeshivas Tomchei Tmimim of Weschester for all their help.

A heartfelt thank you to Rabbi Mendel Levin for planning, arranging and running the entire program!

Thank you to all of our sponsors for your generosity, making it all possible.
