Space scientist Alex Friedman requested his local rabbi to compose a Tefillah for the success of the “Beresheet” spacecraft.
Friedman, who is a chossid of Chabad, is one of the leaders of the Israeli space project which launched Beresheet towards the moon.
Recently, he asked Rabbi Gideon Binyamin, who serves as rabbi of Nof Ayalon, to write a “Tefillas Haderech” for him to say during the historical launch.
The words of the Tefillah are below:
“יהי רצון, ה ‘אלוקינו ואלוקי אבותינו, שתשלחו ברכה והצלחה לכל דבר שאנו עושים, שאתם מובילים את החללית שלנו לשלום ולהביא אותה לשלום, ולשמור אותה מכל מיני תקלות, ותאפשר לנו לראות את זה מגיע לירח בשלום, ואתה יכול להביא אותו בחזרה בשמחה ובשלום, כי הקב”ה נותן חוכמה, ומפיו מגיע ידע והבנה, כי אתה אלוקים ששומע תפילות ותחנונים. ברוך אתה, שומע תפילה “.
