Despite heavy rain, dozens of Crown Heights families joined “Chassidic Expressions” Art and Music Open House that took place last night. Parents and children of all ages had an opportunity to listen to music teachers play, as well as explore different art medium.
“This is an excellent opportunity for our community youth to spend quality after school time in such creative way” says Mila Schneiderman, founder and director. “Children need positive outlet, and this program provides rich and creative ways to do it”.
Program features only Chassidic Music and Jewish Art Themes to instill love and connection to our rich heritage.
There is a big spectrum of offered classes in drawing, painting, sewing, crochet, sculpturing, woodworking, origami, puppet show and drama. Music program offers classes in violin, bass guitar, piano, flute, clarinet, cello, choir.
In addition to private lessons program will be offering a band rehearsal and recording class this semester. Mr. Schwab, Music Director of the program is a multi-instrumentalist composer with 35 years of professional experience directing ensembles in a variety of musical settings.
“This one will of course be devoted exclusively to Chabad Niggunim for which I have arrangements for band. I can promise you it will be a very enriching experience for your son” Says Mr. Schwab. There will be 10 classes the first 7 of which will be devoted to rehearsing Niggunim chosen by the students. The last 3 sessions we will concentrate on recording the songs in professional studio. All of the participants will finish the course with a CD of the work that was accomplished. Program plans to do a performance for the community as well.
