Delicious Sweet Cheese Babka Ingredients:
Dough:
- 2 ounces dry yeast (3 packages dry or 7 tsp.)
- 6 cups flour
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 11 ounces butter
- 2 cups warm milk
- pinch salt
- 2 eggs
Filling:
- 16 ounces of farmer’s cheese
- 24 ounces cream cheese (2 -8 ounce bars & 1 – 8 ounce whipped)
- 5 scoops vanilla sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 yolk
- sugar to taste (1/4 cup to 1/2 cup)
Topping:
- 1 stick butter
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup flour
Directions:
- Warm milk in a pot.
- Take 1/2 cup of milk from the pot and put in a bowl with yeast and 1 Tbsp sugar- let bubble.
- Melt butter in the pot with the remaining milk.
- In mixer: mix flour, egg, salt, and sugar.
- add milk & butter and milk & yeast.
- Add extra flour as needed (about 1 cup).
- Let rise for 1 hour, divide into three.
- Roll into rectangle.
- Mix filling with hand mixer.
- Spread filling, roll up jelly roll style
- Brush with egg
- Sprinkle topping
- Pam large loaf pan.
- Place in loaf pan.
- Let rise another 45 minutes.
- Bake 350 for 45 minutes
