As much construction is taking place in the recent weeks, primarily on the external portions of 770, earlier today the well-known “Tachnun Light” has been taken down.
The light was installed over a decade ago, as an invention to allow the many Daveners to be-known if there is a Chosson, Bris, Siyum Sefer Torah or any other reason why Tachnun should not be said during the Shachris or Mincha services.
It was placed on the top left corner of the Chazan’s Shtender, and had different options of how long one wanted to set the light to remain on, typically depending on how long the Chosson would be sticking around 770.
Over the past few days there appears to have been some problems with the light, causing some to not say Tachnun, so the Gabboim had the light taken down.
Seems like we may have to go back to the ‘good old days’, and simply really on word of mouth.
