The “Happy Minyan” of 770, completed a new Torah in memory of the Rebbe’s brother-in-law, the Rashag, Rabbi Shmaryahu Gurary OBM, whose 117th Birthday was Rosh Chodesh Kislev.
The Rashag served as the director of the Central Lubavitcher Yeshiva Tomchei Tmimim, and the worldwide network of Tomchei Tmimim Yeshivos and Achei Tmimim schools.
The Torah was also written in memory of other illustrious Chassidim who passed away: Rabbi Dovid Raskin, director of Lubavitch Youth Organization and Menahel of Tomchei Tmimim – 770; Rabbi Mordechai Mentlik, Rosh Yeshiva of Tomchei Tmimim – 770; Rabbi Yaakov Yehuda (JJ) Hecht, director of Shaloh / NCFJE; Rabbi Berl Yunik, Mashbak of the Rebbe; and others.
