Tens of bochurim who spent the last year toiling in Yoreh Deah with Iggud Talmidei Hakvutza’s smicha program celebrated their receipt of smicha with their dear teacher Rabbi Mendel Yusewitz in Crown Heights’s “Mozzarella” restaurant.
After learning each section of the smicha track, the talmidim were tested by Rabbi Yusewitz, Rabbi Tuvia Kassimov, and Rabbi Shmuel Chaim Bluming, all respected halachic authorities in Crown Heights, who subsequently signed each of their certificates, which were distributed at the ceremony.
The program was established by the Iggud in conjunction with the Rosh Yeshiva of Tomchei Temimim – 770, Rabbi Shneur Zalman Labkovski, who has given personal guidance to the program’s organizers throughout the previous learning year.
Following the receipt of their certificates, the bochurim celebrated with a tasty meal and a unique farbrengen with the rabbonim. At the event’s conclusion, the talmidim presented Rabbi Yusewitz with a unique gift to show appreciation for his tireless efforts to ensure their success in learning for smicha this past year.
