It was unbelievable to all of us the release of the first two hostages on Friday, unbelievable to us, but not to a group of special women from the Chicago area. Dedicated friends of Yehudit, led by Leah Kustiner, Tsiona Adler, Ahuva Coates and Yona Rivka Kimmelman, have been working non-stop on the spiritual arsenal to create this miracle. They did what we all are doing, tehilim, tehilim and tehilim, gathering every few days and completing the book many times over. But they didn’t stop there. As per the instruction of the Rebbe in connection to the Entebee hostages, they had all the mezuzos of Yehudit’s house checked. One mezuza was pasul, and BH changed.
Knowing Natalie, Yehudit’s daughter, often lives with her father, Chabad of Northbrook put up mezuzos on every door of his house and put tefillin on him as well. Then these ladies did even more. On Sunday, Rosh Chodesh, they had their monthly gathering, which Yehudit always attended. This one was dedicated to her. Not for sharing pain, but for simcha, for confidence, for lichayims thanking Hashem for the release. The gathering was a seudas hodaah, gratitude for the salvation they so know is coming they are already thanking Hashem for it. They imagined Yehudit joining them, in a week or two, for the big welcome back party. They envisioned her sitting among them, partaking in the meal, satiated, not hungry. They thanked G-d for the unbelievable miracle of her release. That was Sunday. And on Friday the inconceivable materialized—just 2 hostages from over 210 were released, Yehudit and Natalie.
Why share this back story? Because every one of us has this same ability to create miracles, to partner with Hashem for the salvations He wants to give and surely is and will shower on the Jewish people now. Walking the strongest road possible, the Rebbe’s instructions, tehilim, mezuzos, and trust, certainty and joy in the miracles before they unfold to enable them to be expressed.
We can and are doing it, and it is so strengthening when we see it materialize with our physical eyes. We can get the rest of the hostages safely back home! The ones in the know are still puzzled why these women specifically were released. Of all hostages, American-Israeli Jews??? Were they the most accessible to the designated transfer point? Did they have less information than anyone else that could be conveyed to Israel? The world wonders; we know. Let us use our ultimately powerful weapons of trust, joy and everything else the Rebbe instructs— and merit to be Hashem’s partners in creating miracles.
