Rabbi Yitzi and Dina Hurwitz were interviewed by the Living L’Chaim podcast about their 10-year journey with ALS and how it changed their lives • Full Story, Video
R’ Yitzi Hurwitz, known for being the life of the party, and his family were shluchim in California, leading a relatively normal life until Yitzi was diagnosed with ALS (also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease) in 2013.
Despite the debilitating nature of the disease, Yitzi continued to compose music and divrei torah with the help of a special computer program. His wife Dina has been an incredible support throughout his illness, and has also shared their story with others in the hope of inspiring and providing comfort to those facing similar struggles.
Yitzi’s diagnosis was devastating, but he and Dina refused to let it defeat them. They have used their experiences to help others, and have been featured in various media outlets for their inspirational message of faith and resilience. While Yitzi’s condition is challenging, their love for each other and their strong sense of community have helped them to face whatever comes their way.
