Yerushalayim Gears Up for Incoming Winter Storm and Potential Snowfall
As a severe winter storm approaches, the Jerusalem Municipality is finalizing extensive preparations to keep the city running safely and smoothly. Salt-spreading and snow removal vehicles will be strategically stationed throughout the city based on weather predictions. Maintenance crews are actively identifying and addressing potential hazards, including clearing drainage systems and reinforcing vulnerable infrastructure. Additional teams are on standby to handle fallen trees, road obstructions, and emergency repairs.
The municipal command center will operate in emergency mode, coordinating efforts between city departments, emergency services, and public transportation providers to ensure a rapid response to any disruptions. The city’s 106 municipal hotline is fully staffed and ready to handle public reports on road conditions, power outages, and assistance requests.
Efforts are also underway to support the city’s most vulnerable residents. Teams are working to locate and provide shelter for homeless individuals, while community services are checking in on elderly and at-risk populations.
Mayor Moshe Lion urged residents to exercise caution, avoid unnecessary travel, and ensure safe home heating. “We are fully prepared for any scenario and are committed to keeping Jerusalem safe and functional during the storm,” he said. “We ask everyone to follow safety guidelines, look out for one another, and embrace the beauty of the season responsibly.”
