Yad L’Achim Warns of Massive Missionary Campaign Targeting Israeli Communities

Yad L’Achim, the well-known organization combating missionary activity in Israel, has issued an urgent warning about a large-scale proselytizing campaign that began today (Wednesday), calling it the most extensive effort of its kind since the outbreak of the war • Read More

According to Shimon Avargel, field coordinator of Yad L’Achim’s Anti-Missionary Division, the campaign is spearheaded by Tom Cantor, a leader of the ‘Messianic Jews’ sect based in the United States. Cantor, who has launched similar missionary efforts in the past, is once again funding a broad operation aimed at spreading Christian messages under the guise of Judaism.

This latest campaign involves the distribution of hundreds of thousands of booklets in Russian, telling “The Story of Tom Cantor.” The effort appears to be specifically targeting Russian-speaking immigrants in Israel, attempting to reach them in their native language. “This is a dangerous trap,” Avargel warned, adding that Yad L’Achim is determined to halt the distribution before it gains momentum.

Reports indicate that the campaign launched in Bat Yam and Jaffa, with plans to expand to Rishon Lezion, Lod, Ramle, Rehovot, Tel Aviv, and other cities with large immigrant populations in the central and Sharon regions. The material is being distributed by local delivery companies hired by the missionaries, further complicating efforts to stop its spread.

Yad L’Achim activists have already mobilized in the affected areas, working to intercept and remove as much of the material as possible before it reaches unsuspecting individuals. The organization has also issued a public call to vigilance, urging citizens to report any missionary activity to their emergency hotline at 9234.

“This is not the first time we’ve had to counter Cantor’s efforts,” Avargel noted. “Last year, he attempted to flood central Israel with missionary billboards, but we managed to block the campaign in its early stages. We intend to do the same now.”

Yad L’Achim has reiterated its commitment to protecting Jewish communities from deceptive proselytizing, promising to continue monitoring and combating missionary activity across the country.
