Women Rescued from Arab Towns Participate in Pre-Pesach Gatherings
As Pesach approaches, Yad L’Achim’s Rescue from Assimilation Department is once again working to help the courageous women who, with divine assistance, have been rescued and started new lives. This week, the first of several nationwide gatherings took place in Be’er Sheva, bringing together dozens of women from the south. More events are scheduled to take place across the country in the coming days • Read More
Many of the participants had not celebrated Pesach for years due to the complete isolation they endured in Arab villages. Now, they were deeply moved to learn about the story of the holiday, its laws, and its significance.
The event featured a festive dinner, a special workshop on making reclining pillows for the Seder, and a class on Pesach laws by Rebbetzin Yona Nuszbacher. Lecturer Rebbetzin Orit Solomon spoke about the personal meaning of Pesach for each woman, in every generation.
Each participant received a unique Yad L’Achim booklet detailing the laws and preparations for the holiday in a clear and accessible way, along with a package of handmade Shmura Matzah, a traditional Haggadah, and a children’s Haggadah.
The warm responses poured in:
“Yad L’Achim family—thank you! I’m amazed every time. Each gathering is incredible, and each one is better than the last. We learned about personal freedom and living a meaningful life,” wrote one participant.
Another shared:
“The warmth and connection with other women allow us just to be. It unites us, embraces and strengthens us, empowering and renewing us—physically, emotionally, and spiritually.”
One woman, unable to contain her emotions, sent the following message to her social worker:
“Thank you, thank you, thank you! I thank Hashem that I am part of this amazing family. This Pesach will be different from all the ones before. I was in my own ‘Egypt,’ and today I am a free Jewish woman, ready to serve Hashem.”
