En route to South America, Reb Aharon Teitelbaum, the Satmar Rebbe of Kriyas Yoel, stopped by Chabad of JFK Airport, directed by R’ Yossi Rapp, on Monday evening.
The Satmar Rebbe was en route for a brief trip to visit the Satmar community of Buenos Aires, Argentina, and to inspect a new Shechita facility for Meal Mart in Uruguay. He was accompanied by dayanim Rabbi Moshe Friedman, the Satmar Dayan of Boro Park, and Rabbi Avrohom Hersh Wosner, the Satmar Dayan of Monsey.
At JFK airport, he saw the Mivtzoim stand, and stopped to chat about its activities, about the plans for Chanukah. He then davened Mincha at the Shul in JFK. He was then introduced to Rabbi Ari Korenblit of the International Synagogue of JFK Airport. Following Mincha, The Satmar Rebbe was given a place to eat.
After Maariv, he met R’ Lozer Raichik of Mikvah International. R’ Raichik showed the Satmar Rebbe the many Mikvaos his organization helped construct across the globe. The Satmar Rebbe, who was impressed, gave his bracha to R’ Raichik and his organization to bring Tahara amongst am Yisorel. Rabbi Korenblit also took an interest in the work of Mikvah International.
After being escorted to the gate, the Satmar Rebbe mentioned he was a descendant of the Alter Rebbe. They discussed what the Lubavitcher Rebbe discussed with his cousin, the Bobover Rebbe, who was also a descendant of the Alter Rebbe, about the greatness of Yichus from one’s mother.
Before boarding, the Satmar Rebbe wished much success to all the activities of the Chabad of JFK. He was gifted a Sefer, published recently by Ohr Hachassidus, a collection of the Rebbe’s letters of advice for health and life, as printed in Igros Kodesh.
