On Sunday, Yud Alef Shvat, right after the Rebbe’s Minyan Shachris, tens of Mivtza Tanks went out from 770 on a Tank parade to Manhattan, from where the tanks split where they then traveled to different points across the city to spread Yiddishkeit
Over the years, Yud Shevat was celebrated with Tank Parades a number of times, with the most memorable being Yud Shevat 5750, when the Rebbe watched as the 40 tanks passed by 770. In recent years since, parades are held annually.
Mivtzoim on Yud Shvat is based on what the Rebbe writes in the Minhagim for Yud Shvat, “In the course of the day, people (who are fit for the task) should visit centers of observant youth …. that they would ultimately fulfill their task of strengthening the observance of Judaism and disseminating the study of Torah with all the energy, warmth and vitality that characterize youth.”
