Hate: Firebomb Thrown at New Jersey Synagogue

In the middle of the night, an explosive device was thrown at a synagogue in Bloomfield, New Jersey, according to police.
At around 3:00 a.m., Sunday morning, an unknown individual wearing a ski mask ignited and threw a molotov cocktail – a homemade explosive device – at the Shul.
Sources said the device did not detonate as expected, nor did it cause as much damage as would have been expected.
Police in Essex County as well as the FBI were investigating the incident which occurred at a shul in part of the Jewish Federation of Greater Metrowest New Jersey.
Livingston police announced on social media that they would be ramping up patrols in nearby synagogues “until more information is obtained.”
No injuries have been reported at this time.
We are aware of an attempted arson attack on a temple in Bloomfield NJ earlier this morning. As a result we have increased our patrols of our temples and will continue to do so until more information is obtained. If you see anything suspicious, please call us immediately.
