In a moving show of unity, strength, and Jewish pride, Rabbi Yitzchok and Shani Minkowicz, Directors of Chabad Lubavitch of Southwest Florida, brought the spirit of Chabad to the forefront during the October 7th Solidarity Gathering of Unity and Peace, organized by the Jewish Federation of Lee and Charlotte County under the dedicated leadership of Debbie Sanford.

The gathering, held in memory of those affected by the tragic events in Israel on October 7th, was both heartfelt and hopeful, drawing Jews from across the region to stand together in support of the Jewish people and the Land of Israel.

As part of the program, Rabbi Minkowicz addressed the crowd with words of strength and faith, then lifted the atmosphere with the powerful blasts of the shofar a stirring call that touched hearts and drew a round of heartfelt applause.

But true to the Chabad way of turning inspiration into action, Rabbi Minkowicz didn’t stop there. With warmth and enthusiasm, he took the opportunity to offer Jewish men the chance to wrap Tefillin, right then and there, in honor of Israel and our brothers and sisters around the world.

Many responded with open hearts, proudly rolling up their sleeves to perform this special mitzvah. For some, it was their first time in years or even their first time ever.

“In times like these, every mitzvah makes a difference,” Rabbi Minkowicz shared with Chabadinfo. “Putting on Tefillin is not just a personal moment, it’s a spiritual statement of solidarity, strength, and eternal connection to Am Yisrael.”

The event also featured guest speaker Ayellet Black, Deputy Consulate General of Israel in Miami, who delivered a passionate and moving address. Her words included a beautiful Dvar Torah, seamlessly blending spiritual insight with the current moment of Jewish resilience.

In true Chabad fashion, what began as a community gathering transformed into a living expression of Jewish unity complete with shofar blasts, heartfelt mitzvos, and souls touched with Yiddishkeit.
